Ebonyi: LG ELECTIONS IN EKA-AWOKE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY HOLDS PEACEFULLY
By Ewa Nworie The chairmansip and councillorship elections held at Eka-Awoke ward in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state were conducted most peacefully. People turned out in their large numbers as they defied the early morning rain that wanted to disrupt the exercise. Accreditatipn of voters,however, started by 9am,while actual voting commenced by 10 am. Speaking after the election,the APC chairman of Eka-Awoke ward,chief Steven Igwe,described the election as most peaceful and thanked the people of Eka-Awoke for coming out en mass under the heavy rain that took the day,to cast their votes. Also speaking,the former chairman of Ikwo local government area,chief Daniel Ogiji(DND)told this reporter that they election went most peacefully,describing the large turn out of people,despite the heavy down pour to the leadership ingenuity of the council chairman,Barr.Sunday Nwankwo.
