Ebonyi: LG ELECTIONS IN EKA-AWOKE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY HOLDS PEACEFULLY

The chairmansip and councillorship elections held at Eka-Awoke ward in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state were conducted most peacefully.
  People turned out in their large numbers as they defied the early morning rain that wanted to disrupt the exercise.
 Accreditatipn of voters,however, started by 9am,while actual voting commenced by 10 am.
   Speaking after the election,the APC chairman of Eka-Awoke ward,chief Steven Igwe,described the election as most peaceful and thanked the people of Eka-Awoke for coming out en mass under the heavy rain that took the day,to cast their votes.
 Also speaking,the former chairman of Ikwo local government area,chief Daniel Ogiji(DND)told this reporter that they election went most peacefully,describing the large turn out of people,despite the heavy down pour to the leadership ingenuity of the council chairman,Barr.Sunday Nwankwo.
  He thanked the people of Eka-Awoke for their solidarity and supports,assuring that the second tenure of Barr.Nwankwo will put more smiles on the faces of the community.
The interim committee President, Eka-Awoke Development Association(ECDA),Hon.Ewa Nworie,also described the election as most peaceful,attributing the large turn out of voters from the community to the calibre of the council chairman,Barr.Sunday Nwankwo whom he said,have shown exampliary leadership. He described Barr.Sunday Nwankwo as a peacemaker who never allowed any part of Ikwo local government area to be engulfed in crisis,stressing that the people of Eka-Awoke owes it as a duty to support the second tenure of Barr. Sunday Nwankwo.
 Many stakeholders and chieftains of APC in Eka-Awoke community,also came out in their numbers to cast their votes.
They include,elder Lawrence Nweke Idakari,Dr Cyprain Okiri,prof.Joseph Afiukwa,Prince Edward Ogalagu  and Mr Iteshi Ignatus among others.
  They all commended governor Ogbonna Nwifuru for making the environment well conducive for peaceful local government elections.
