EFFIUM-EZZA EFFIUM CRISIS: EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR,APPEALS FOR MORE MILITARY PRESENCE

Governor Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi state has appealed to GOC,commanding 82 Division,Enugu,Major General Hassan Dada to mobilize more military men to the warring communities of Effium,Ezza Effium which has lingered since January 2021.
  Governor Nwifuru made the appeal when the GOC 82 Division,Nigerian Army  paid him a courtesy call in his office,at government house,Abakaliki. 
    NWIFURU who announced the recent killing of three persons by one community in a renewed clash,revealed that the beneficiaries of the crisis did not want the war to end,hence,their efforts to renew the crisis each time government set up a peace committee to permanently end the crisis.
He told the visiting GOC,that the crisis has lingered because of some stakeholders who has been paying money to the warlords.
    He said, "we have small challenge, security wise in Effium and Ezza Effium which the contonment Commander is doing his best, but I want you GOC to help us because,the best is trying not to become the best for the state,like yester night, three people were killed by one community and is a communal clash.But,we know definitely we have set up a committee and the committee have started work yesterday.
 "Unfortunately at any point in time we set up a committee to resolve the crisis,that is when they do start killing,because,they have seen that the war is coming to an end.
    "So they do anything within their reach to make sure that the war will not end.Why,because a lot of stakeholders contribute money to give them when they are fighting. If they end the war there is no way of getting the fund again. That is the main reason why that war is still lingering.
    "I beg you GOC to do any thing within your reach to mobilize more men to the area to crack down those criminals that call themselves warlords. 
   "They are no more fighting for the interest of the community,they are now fighting for their personal interest, because,all the reasonable people of both communities,what they are doing now is to make sure there is peace,so that every body will get back to his or her house". 
   Earlier, the General officer commanding 82 Division,Enugu, Major General,Hassan Dada,had explained that,as part of his familization tour to states within his command,he was in Ebonyi state to familiarize as a new GOC,commanding 82 Division,Enugu. 
   He thanked governor Ogbonna  Nwifuru for all the supports he has given to the Nigerian Army,saying that there is no military operations that can be successful without carrying the people along,adding that he has been mandated to reduce the cases of insecurity in Ebonyi state and other south east states and cross River state.

EKA-AWOKE COMMUNITY QUALIFIES FOR WORLD BANK ASSISTED PROJECTS

By Ewa Nworie Eka-Awoke community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state was among the 54 communities qualified for CSDA support under the NG-CARES programme,a world Bank Assisted project.    Members of the CSDA committee from Eka-Awoke,elected to carry out the implementation of their community project,joined colleagues from other communities to receive intensive training on how to handle the projects. The training which took place at Re-maretona hotel Andsuite,Abakaliki,was meant to empower the committees of benefiting communities with the prerequisite knowledge on how to carry out the world Bank Assited projects in their various communities in line with the world Bank approved standard The training which was seen as quite impactful and result oriented,as members of the committees were seen answering questions correctly from the resource persons,kept the committees abreast of what they should know about the management of Agency's fund.

NDUFU IKWO DC COORDINATOR,DR.EJEM CHARGES NEW MGT CTTEE MEMBERS TO WORK HARD
