EBONYI: GOV.NWIFURU TO REVIVE IKWO COLLEGE OF EDUCATION,PLANS TO ESTABLISH UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION WITHIN THE COLLEGE PREMISES

Governor Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi state has disclosed plan to revive Ikwo college of education by establshing University of education within the college premises.
    Governor Nwifuru made his intention known when governing council and management of the institution paid him a courtesy visit in his office at new government house, Abakaliki.
   Nwifuru who was not happy over the dwindling nature of the institution which should be turning out graduates,charged the governing council and management,to discuss and bring forward innovative ideas that will salvage the institution from it's present condition,instead of coming to request for individual welfare packages that will not change the bad situation of the college
   Governor Nwifuru said,the intention of government was to divide the college into two parts, one for a degree awarding university,and the other for college of education. 
   "In my manifesto,we said,we are going to convert that college of education,some part of it,not that we are going to close college of education completely,no.
We are going to have college of education there,but we divide the compound into two. Some section will be University of education. Which means,the same school will have two institutions.
"I want the provost,the managenent,and the governing council to sit down and articulate what you think is right for us to do for the school to grow,because,you cannot sit down and be requesting basic amenities,vehicles while the school enrolment is very poor. 
   Who is buying vehicle for what is not productive?You can entice me by giving me productivity,Nwifuru insisted.
 Earlier,the chairman of the governing council,Ikwo college of education,Chief Francis Igwe,had explained that they came to congratulate governor Nwifuru on his well deserved victory at the polls and subsequent inauguration as the 4th  democratically elected governor of Ebonyi state.
  Chief,Igwe,however,appealed to governor Nwifuru to come to the rescue of the college by appointing a Bursar to fill the vacant position left by the former Bursar who was appointed as permanent secretary.
   Other requests made by the council,include,provision of official vehicles for school management, increase of subvention,gazetting of staff for pension and gratuity,and implementation of budget provisions for the college.

EKA-AWOKE COMMUNITY QUALIFIES FOR WORLD BANK ASSISTED PROJECTS

By Ewa Nworie Eka-Awoke community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state was among the 54 communities qualified for CSDA support under the NG-CARES programme,a world Bank Assisted project.    Members of the CSDA committee from Eka-Awoke,elected to carry out the implementation of their community project,joined colleagues from other communities to receive intensive training on how to handle the projects. The training which took place at Re-maretona hotel Andsuite,Abakaliki,was meant to empower the committees of benefiting communities with the prerequisite knowledge on how to carry out the world Bank Assited projects in their various communities in line with the world Bank approved standard The training which was seen as quite impactful and result oriented,as members of the committees were seen answering questions correctly from the resource persons,kept the committees abreast of what they should know about the management of Agency's fund.

NDUFU IKWO DC COORDINATOR,DR.EJEM CHARGES NEW MGT CTTEE MEMBERS TO WORK HARD
