EFFIUM-EZZA EFFIUM CRISIS: EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR,APPEALS FOR MORE MILITARY PRESENCE

By Ewa Nworie Governor Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi state has appealed to GOC,commanding 82 Division,Enugu,Major General Hassan Dada to mobilize more military men to the warring communities of Effium,Ezza Effium which has lingered since January 2021.   Governor Nwifuru made the appeal when the GOC 82 Division,Nigerian Army  paid him a courtesy call in his office,at government house,Abakaliki.      NWIFURU who announced the recent killing of three persons by one community in a renewed clash,revealed that the beneficiaries of the crisis did not want the war to end,hence,their efforts to renew the crisis each time government set up a peace committee to permanently end the crisis. CATHOLIC PRIEST,AZUBUIKE,THREE OTHERS KIDNAPPED IN EBONYI REGAIN FREEDOM

By Ewa Nworie,Abakaliki Rev Fr Joseph Azubuike, a Catholic priest and three others who were kidnapped on Monday this week by unknown gunmen in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state,have finally regained their freedom.    This was contained in a statement signed by Rev.Fr Mathew Uzoma Opoke, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki,which states that the abducted priest alongside three others have regined their freedom.   The statement reads: “We are glad to inform you that Fr. Joseph Azubuike, together with the three, have regained freedom from their abductors. GUNMEN ABDUCT PRIEST,THREE OTHERS IN EBONYI

By Ewa Nworie,Abakaliki Reverend Father Joseph Azubike of St.Charles Catholic Parish Mgbaleke,Isu,Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state,has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. The parish priest who was abducted alongside three other persons,Monday,10th July,2023,was on his way back from his pastoral duties.   This was contained in a statement issued by the chancellor of the Abakaliki Catholic  Diocese,Rev.Fr.Uzoma Opoke.  In the statement,the Diocese seeks the prayers of the church and public,for the quick and unconditional release of the abducted priest. The police,while confirming the report,the Ebonyi command public relations officer(PPRO),SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya,said,"the issue has been brought to the attention of the command and the needful is being done".  

FIVE NEW CATHOLIC PRIESTS ORDAINED IN EBONYI

BY Ewa Nworie Five priests were on Saturday  July,8,2023 ordained in the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki by the Bishop of the Diocese,Most Reverend Peter Nworie.    The event which took place at saint Theresa Catholic Church Abakaliki,was witnessed by the governor of Ebonyi state,Rt.Hon.Ogbonna Nwifuru and top government functionaries,Catholic faithfuls, friends and well wishers.    The five priests ordained,include,Rev. Fr.Williams Ogbonna,Rev.Fr.Lawrence Mbamini,Rev.Fr.Kingsley Nwokpuru,Rv.Fr.Onyia Chinedu,and Rv.Fr.Eze Fidelis. EBONYI WIDOW RECEIVES 2 FLATS BUNGALOW FROM FORMER GOV.UMAHI'S AIDE

Dr.Jacinta Nworie,former senior Special Assistant(SSA)on Lagos liasion to former governor David Umahi, presented a well furnished bungalow house to a widow,Mrs.Ujebe Nworie.    The widow had lost her husband 25 years ago,and later lost her two  sons mysteriously,without any person to take care of her.
