Gov Nwifuru Congratulates Author, "Years Of Shame"

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has congratulated Mr Obinna Udenwe, the author of a novel, "Years of Shame", and encouraged him to keep the pace of making the State proud. Governor Nwifuru stated this at Remeritona Hotel and Suites Abakaliki, during the book launch.

Governor Francis Nwifuru, who was represented by the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, said that the years of shame as captured in the novel, was not limited to Izzi land, but Ebonyi State in general. He recollected the challenges, faced by the people of Ebonyi State at the past, and thanked God for his blessings upon the State.

"Let us thank God that today, the years of shame is not just for Izzi land, but for the entire Ebonyi.

Our dear Governor has asked me to congratulate you, Engr Obinna, and to tell you that he will continue to encourage you. In the People's Charter of Needs, you will acknowledge that he captured all these. What Ebonyi needs may not be what other States need. He started telling this story to showcase what we were, and what we are now, and as well, how people were treated then."

Governor Nwifuru expressed his readiness to assist young authors with the potentials of making the State proud, and enjoined the youths to emulate the strides of Mr Obinna Udenwe.

"Therefore my dear people of Ebonyi State, we will do whatever thing we can to encourage our young ones that are growing, and to congratulate him for the feat he has achieved."

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, and Former President of the Senate, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, represented by the State Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Ben Odoh, described the author, Mr Obinna Udenwe as a sharp writer, who writes very provocative and prophetic. He said that the novel, "Years of Shame", the author explored the fountain legacies and ancestral decisions in the book, and however, congratulated him for the feat he has attained.

In their separate speeches, the Chief Launcher, Engr Darlington Ugota, Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi, represented by Prince Ndubuisi Chibueze Agbo, the Member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike, former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu, Immediate Past Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe, represented by Elder Stephen Orogwu, Former Chairman, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chief Elias Mbam, Senator Silvanus Ngiji Ngele, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor among others, commended Mr Obinna Udenwe, and enjoined him to keep the flag flying.
