Chairman of the South East Governors ' Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Nweze Umahi conveyed the  condolences of the Forum when the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ebonyi State Chapter paid him a Christmas homage at his Uburu Country Home, Friday. He decried the demise of the experienced Historian and administrator at a time the Igbos needed his wisdom most to surmount teething challenges. "We have lost a cultural Leader who spent most of his life propagating the virtues of Ndigbo. We at the South East Governor's Forum are saddened and in mourning. Ebonyi Police command to get more logistics to fight crime -IGP

ALLEGED GUNMEN ATTACK: EBONYIi GOVT ASSURES CITIZENS OF SAFETY

ABAKALIKI- The Ebonyi Government has assured residents of the state of their safety, following the alleged gunmen’s attacks in Abakaliki and other parts of the state on Monday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the widespread rumour caused palpable fear and tension in the capital city. The development forced banks, business centres, shops and markets to shut down, while private and commuter-vehicles withdrew from the major roads. Meanwhile, the Security Consultant to the State Government, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, has issued a statement, advising government officials, civil servants and other residents not to panick. Okoro-Emegha urged the people to go about their normal businesses. He threw more light on the security breach that gave rise to the situation. GOVERNOR UMAHI BAGS GRAND SERVICE STAR AWARD FROM RIVER STATE GOVT

Boy escapes death as Public Servant losses properties and cash worth over N30m to Inferno in Ebonyi

A storey building of six flats located at No. 29, Udensi Street in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, on Friday was gutted by fire. One of the victims, Okoro Mkpuma, a father of nine children and a staff of Ikwo College of Education, blamed the fire on a power surge. Narrating his ordeal, Mkpuma, who hails from Ohaozara LGA, said that all his valued documents and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire. According to him: “I was on my way when they called me that fire is raging in our building, and on reaching and I saw that all the building was on fire. There is no way we can sleep now. The whole building was razed completely. “The problem was that there was an amount of money my wife kept inside the room. The money was given to her by somebody to keep. We will welcome any help the state government can render to us.” Another victim, Aleke Samson, a public servant, said he lost valuable properties and cash worth over N30 million in the fire
