STATE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION BOARD VISITS IKWO LGA, SEEKS EBONYI RELIABLE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION NETWORKING

In line with Ebonyi State government's commitment to enhancing rural electrification, the recently constituted 
Ebonyi State Rural Electrification Board, led by Engr. Godwin Nwankwo, on 28th August 2024 visited  Ikwo Local Government Area to interact with Stakeholders on how best to achieve the Governor's mandate in areas of rural electrification.The delegation was warmly received by the Vice Chairman of the Ikwo LGA, Hon. Mrs. Chinasa Itumo, onbehalf of the Council Boss. 

In his speech, Engr. Nwankwo, on behalf of the team, emphasized the board's mission to establish reliable and expansive rural electrification networks across the state. He acknowledged the challenges that rural areas face in accessing consistent power supply and assured that the board is dedicated to overcoming these obstacles through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions.
He equally lauded the scintillating hospitality, synergistic and working strides of the executive chairman of Ikwo LGA, Hon. Barr. Sunday Basil Nwankwo, assuring the Council Chairman of their readiness to partner with him to ensure that communities in Ikwo LGA enjoy rural electrification.

Responding, the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Mrs. Chinasa Itumo,  speaking on behalf of her Boss, expressed her gratitude for the board's initiative and stressed the importance of electricity in driving economic growth and improving the quality of life for the people of Ikwo LGA. She reiterated the council's readiness to collaborate closely with the board to ensure that the electrification projects are effectively implemented and reach the hinterlands where they are most needed.

Mrs. Itumo adds that the visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to ensure that even the most remote areas of Ikwo LGA benefit from sustainable electricity supply. 

Speakers at the engagement meeting stressed the need for synergy between the Ebonyi State Rural Electrification Board and the Ikwo LGA administration in bringing about the expected transformative changes in the area. They expressed hope that with the promise of sustainable power, communities within Ikwo LGA can anticipate improved access to basic amenities, enhanced educational opportunities, and the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, which are vital for local economic development.

The visit, however, concluded with a mutual pledge to maintain a long-lasting partnership aimed at ensuring that the electrification projects not only commence but are also sustained for the benefit of the residents of Ikwo LGA. This collaboration is a beacon of hope for the rural communities, who have long awaited consistent power supply as a foundation for socio-economic advancement.
