IKWO COUNCIL BOSS INAUGURATES MGT COMMITTEE WITH A CHARGE TO ASSIST CO ORDINATORS DEVELOP RURAL COMMUNITIES

The chairman of Ikwo local government area, Bar. Sunday Nwankwo, has charged the newly inaugurated management committee members of Development centres,to  work in total harmony with their co ordinators to transform the rural communities.
  The chairman gave the charge during the swearing in ceremony of the management committee members which took place at Ikwo council's headquarters,Onuebonyi Echara.
   He told the management committee members that governor Ogbonna Nwifuru wants democracy dividends to continue to trinckle down to the rural communities.
    His words," Governor Ogbonna Nwifuru wants democracy dividends to continue to trinckle  down  to the last strata of the society.
  "You are the one to tell us the feelings down there. You are the one to take our message of governance to the roots. You are the one to help us guide our policies to suite what the grassroot needs.

"You are not sent there to fight co ordinators. You have been called to assist co ordinators. Your roles in various  Development centres is to take up responsibilities from your various Co ordinators and help them as their foot soldiers until democracy dividends get to the roots.
  "When you have issues, don't fight for your selves,talk to the next level of leadership. We will not like to hear that there is misunderstanding in any Development centre.
   "I can tell you, the co ordinators have passion to work and if you go there with the same spirit, you will get the best in the services you offer.
 "I want to urge the Co ordinators to consider assigning them(management committee members)to different roles so that their responsibilities can be brought to the fore.because, if you give them departments or units, through their various reportage,they will now get sectoral feelings of what is happening at the grass root levels.
  "The report of your good service is what will promote you to the next level,the council boss added.
   Earlier,the mother of the first Lady of the state,Dr.Mrs Ngozi Nwode,in her remarks,had urged the management committee members to justify their appointments by working hard with their Co ordinators to ensure total transformation of the rural communities.
  She challenged them not to become fault finders,but,rather agents of positive change and rural transformation.

EKA-AWOKE COMMUNITY QUALIFIES FOR WORLD BANK ASSISTED PROJECTS

By Ewa Nworie Eka-Awoke community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state was among the 54 communities qualified for CSDA support under the NG-CARES programme,a world Bank Assisted project.    Members of the CSDA committee from Eka-Awoke,elected to carry out the implementation of their community project,joined colleagues from other communities to receive intensive training on how to handle the projects. The training which took place at Re-maretona hotel Andsuite,Abakaliki,was meant to empower the committees of benefiting communities with the prerequisite knowledge on how to carry out the world Bank Assited projects in their various communities in line with the world Bank approved standard The training which was seen as quite impactful and result oriented,as members of the committees were seen answering questions correctly from the resource persons,kept the committees abreast of what they should know about the management of Agency's fund.
