EBONYI ASSEMBLY PASSES EBONYI STATE ELECTRICITY LAW 2024.

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill to establish the Ebonyi State Electricity 2024 and other matters conneccted thereto.

The passage of the bill into law took place at Nkaliki Road during. plenary session presided over by the Speaker Rt  Hon Chief  Moses Ije Odunwa .

The law which is deemed to have come into force  on Tuesday 9th July 2024 will be cited as the Ebonyi State Electricity law 2024.

Speaking earlier on the bill, the Leader of the House Hon Kingsley Ikoro urged the honourable members to support the passage of the bill which he said provides legal framework to guide the operations of electricity generation in Ebonyi State.

Also Contributing, the member representing Ebonyi North West Hon Barr Aloysius Nwodo emphasized that the passage of the bill  will provide for a holistic integrated resources plan and policy, competitive electricity market in Ebonyi State.

The bill which was  exhaustively deliberated in the Committee of the whole was read Page by page where errors of syntax and morphology were corrected.

Also the House equally passed into law a bill to establish Fertilizer and Chemical Company limited Board .


The deemed to have come into force on Tuesday 9th July 2024 shall be cited Ebonyi State Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited Board Law 2024.

The object and purpose of the law is to establish Ebonyi State Fertilizer and Chemical Company Limited.

The law stipulated that the company shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal, with power to sue or be sued in it's corporate name and subject to the land use Act, may hold, acquire, dispose of or otherwise deal with movable or immovable property.

Earlier, the leader of the House Hon Kingsley Ikoro, the member representing Ivo Constituency Hon Onyekachi Ogbadu, member representing Ebonyi North West Hon Aloysius Nwodo, the member representing Izzi West Hon Chief Godwin Abiri and member representing  Ohaozara East  Hon Chikezie Igu said the establishment of the Board will enhance efficiency of the Ebonyi State Fertilizer Company.

After debate on the bill, the Speaker Rt Hon Moses Ije Odunwa puts the passage into vote and it was unanimously adopted.
