IKWO COUNCIL BOSS INAUGURATES CARETAKER COMMITTEE TO OVERSEA THE AFFAIRS OF EKA-AWOKE COMMUNITY
The chairman of Ikwo local government area, Barr. Sunday Nwankwo has inaugurated a five man caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of Eka-Awoke autonomous community in Ikwo local government area.
Inaugurating the caretaker committee in his office at Onuebonyi Echara,Ikwo local government area,the council boss charged the committee to take full charge and ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in the community,as according to him,government will not fold it's hands when peace and tranquility are threatened.
He described the issue of mining as a sensitive one which due process must be followed to avoid crisis,warning that any youth caught causing crises in Eka-Awoke community will be squarely dealt with.
He further charged the caretaker committee to work with stakeholders and village chairmen to achieve the needed peace that will enhance development in the community.
The chairman of Ikwo local government area,Barr.Sunday Nwankwo,had few days ago dissolved the leadership of Eka-Awoke Development Association,citing security concern as reason for the dissolution.
He appointed chief Ewa Nworie to phead the five man caretaker committee,while Mr Micheal Awoke,is to serve as secretary
Other members are, Hon. Joseph Ngwuta, Hon. Timothy Nwoku and Mr Monday Ncham.
The committee have six months
to complete their assignment.
In his acceptance speech,chief Ewa Nworie thanked the council chairman,Barr.Sunday Nwankwo for the trust reposed on them,describing Barrister Nwakwo as a peace loving chairman,that have brought peace to all nooks and crannies of Ikwo local government areas.
Ewa promised on behalf of other members not to disappoint the council chairman,as he assured the chairman that they will deliver on the mandate given to them.
