4 killed in four days after Ebubeagu was disbanded -- Umahi

Four persons has been killed in Ebonyi state by unknown gunmen in four days after the disbandment of Ebubeagu security by the Federal high court,sitting in Abakaliki.
    This was disclosed by governor David Umahi while fielding questions from journalists after a security meeting with service chiefs,held at presidential lodge,International airport,Abakaliki.
   Governor David Umahi who said,Ebubeagu security outfit was doing well in assisting the police to protect lives and properties in the state,wondered why desperate politicians should play politics with human life.
   He told journalists that a new security outfit,known as Neighbourhood watch and Vigilante corps has been put in place to assist the police fight crime,noting that his administration will not fold hands and play down on human lives and properties.
 "This desperation is what is leading to these attacks and counter attacks. And if APC is involved,I had always cautioned,and in some cases,I direct security agents to arrest them. There is no way a governor will entertain violence or insecurity in his state.
   "As we talk today,there are number of Vigilante people that are in custody in the past four years. Some facing trial or have been tried. Am worried that desperation is what is leading to this violence.
  "Infact in the past four days that Ebubeagu was disbanded,four persons have been killed.
"My directive to security agencies,no matter who is involved,PDP,APC,whichever Party involved,if you infringe on the right of the people,you must be arrested and prosecuted. I don't need violence to win elections".
   In answer to a question on peer mechanism, why such was not instituted by the south east governors to give way to come to Ebonyi state and learn from  governor Umahi's wonderful achievements,to duplicate same in their states,Umahi,said,those states may have developed,but,Ebonyi state is still in a hurry to developed and catch up with other states.
   His words,"May be in those states,their governors are meeting up the yearnings of their people.
There are some people that their interest is how much they get into their pockets.
Don't forget,we are the weeping child of the states. 
   "Journey from Imo state and Abia state to here,we were highly neglected. Journey from Anambra state,Enugu state to here,we were badly neglected. 
  "And so we are in a hurry to develop,and other brother states,may not need Flyover,may not need concrete roads,may not need airports.
   "Our job is to develop the state to catch up with other states,he stated.

EKA-AWOKE COMMUNITY QUALIFIES FOR WORLD BANK ASSISTED PROJECTS

By Ewa Nworie Eka-Awoke community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state was among the 54 communities qualified for CSDA support under the NG-CARES programme,a world Bank Assisted project.    Members of the CSDA committee from Eka-Awoke,elected to carry out the implementation of their community project,joined colleagues from other communities to receive intensive training on how to handle the projects. The training which took place at Re-maretona hotel Andsuite,Abakaliki,was meant to empower the committees of benefiting communities with the prerequisite knowledge on how to carry out the world Bank Assited projects in their various communities in line with the world Bank approved standard The training which was seen as quite impactful and result oriented,as members of the committees were seen answering questions correctly from the resource persons,kept the committees abreast of what they should know about the management of Agency's fund.
