INSULTING ELDERS ON FACEBOOK BY IRRESPONSIBLE YOUTHS AND THE SIN OF INGRATITUDE

I feel much worried when some youths of nowadays,go out of their ways to use social media platform or Facebook to hurl abuses on elders or political leaders because of rancour and bitterness of heart, ocasioned by socio political activism.
Not that the social media, which is a new innovation for information dissemination in the world over is bad, but, turning it into an art for hurling abuses, insults on elders and political leaders who  have made their marks in rendering quality service to the people,is quite uncharitable and should be condemned by all, because, the sin of ingratitude and backstabbing is a sin against God.
Such youths call it politics, but to me it is beyond politics as God has warned against such in his Holy book, instructing that elders should be given their respect and be cherished by the younger ones.
1 Timothy 5:1-2,says,Never speak harshly to an older man, but, appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father"
1Peter5:5,You who are younger be subject to the elders". For God resisteth proud and give grace to the humble".
Romans chapter 13 verse 1,also made it clear that everyone must obey the state authorities, because,no authority exists without God's permission."
The way Elders and political leaders who have performed creditably well are abused and insulted on Facebook, especially in Ebonyi state by some youths,in the name of politics, has become a great source of worry.
Worst still is the fact that the insult on  elders by the youths, start from the home front.
No wonder, the Bible in Mark 6:4, rightly states that, "a prophet is not without honour  except in his hometown, and among his relatives and in his own household."
The unbridled  indecent behaviours of some youths on the social media, to catch their fancy,is most worrisom.
The truth of the matter is that,an elder,no matter, his political inclination, should deserve respects, and not abusive or foul language.
I believe, without insult on social media against elders, and our amiable governor, the youths can still make their points clearer on issued of their concern,to attract government attention if truly they have the interest of the state and country at heart.
The truth is that words are very powerful,as they have the capacity to inspire and uplift,to kill or destroy and to hurt and denigrate.
That is why the youths in Ebonyi state should have a change of attitude to imbibe the spirit of attitudinal change, introduced by governor David Umahi's led administration, which is aimed at inculcating high morale values and cultural rennisseance.
It is a known fact that the disrespect for the elders is un- african, not to talk of Igbo culture which attaches deeper cultural meaning.
It is on record that Ebonyi people are known for their honesty, hard work and high moral values, although some few ones that lack home trainings still fall within the preview  of moral decadence.
Governor David Umahi has made Ebonyi state a Haven for infrastructures and human capital developments. He has performed above average by providing full dose of democracy dividends, and has gone extra miles to appoint many youths into his government.
This has earned him miraids of  acorlades, both at home and in diaspora.
Not only that, governor David  Umahi has been rated as the best performing governor in Nigeria, and also widely acclaimed as one of the most humble leader in the country that is imbued with the fear of God and wisdom, because,he has never insulted or disrespected elders.
For sure, that is why Umahi on assumption of office, created Ebonyi council of elders who are today, assisting in the day to day running of government.
But,it beats my imagination to see some youths who are the major beneficiaries of government  facilities in the state, making uncomplimentary remark or hate speech on Facebook, against the people's governor who have sacrificed his life and comforts to transform the state into enviable status.
This is the sin of ingratitude and backstabbing, which God does not tolerate.
Therefore, for the youths to become the leaders of tommorow as often postulated, they should purge themselves of indecent unbridled behaviour on Facebook, insulting elders and the result oriented governor of Ebonyi state,Engr.David Umahi(CON,FNSE,FNATE),for it is written,"give honour to whom honour is due."
