BY ARISE TV There was pandemonium in Abuja after soldiers allegedly following the directives of an army general assaulted development control officials in Sabon Lugbe Area, who were present to dismantle certain illegal structures in the vicinity. Naija News understands that the officials were acting in the order of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. It was gathered that the officials, on Wednesday, December 18, targeted the fence of a property located on Plot 416, reportedly owned by a Major General. However, upon their arrival, soldiers, who were in a vehicle with obscured license plates, obstructed the exit from the property, thereby preventing the enforcement team from leaving the premises, while issuing threats that someone would die that day. By Nnenna Oshibe  Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudaline Nwifuru, has freed convicted inmates by paying off the debt of a 16-year-old boy, Ogobuchi Ikebe, and 40 other male inmates of the custodial center, convicted with option fines. The 16-year-old boy, Ogobuchi Ikebe, was convicted for fighting over a missing Bluetooth device. She disclosed this at the custodial center on Tuesday during the release of the inmates at the Abakaliki Custodial Center. Mary Nwifuru, who maintained that she would continue to fight for the under privileged in society, encouraged the ex-convicts to shun crime and any illegal actions that could bring them back to prison. Addressing journalists at the custodial center, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ben Odo, commended the wife of the Governor for using her pet project (BERWO) to clear the fines. Governor  Francis Nwifuru disclosed  this in a message to the official signoff and handover ceremony organised by the Medecines Sans Frontier, MSF, otherwise called Doctors Without Borders held in , Abakaliki. This decision, according to Governor Nwifuru is in furtherance of his commitments to provide healthcare services to the people of Ebonyi State.
